FELTRE
... dove l'arte, la cultura,
la natura
e la vita quotidiana
non conoscono il turismo di massa
Situated amoung the hills, 250 meters
above sea level and, 70 km. from Venice, Feltre is a charming town rich
in history, art and culture. It boasts the important University Department
of Modern Languages.
The origins of the town are ancient, retaining
many features from Roman times. The city's structure, dominated by the
castle and surrounded by walls, still maintains much of the charm of the
Middle Ages, but it also graced by the arches and colours of the Renaissance.
It is an ideal place for people who love being
in touch with nature, away from the noise and frenzy of everyday life.
It is an important centre of artistic, cultural and musical events, reaching
their utmost splendour in the ’Palio dei Quartieri’, the ’Historical Procession
in Ancient Costumes’ and the ’Arts and Crafts Exhibition’.
In the small shops, which lie concealed under
the porticoes, one can find everything this very rich region has to to
offer: wine, beans, cheese, flavours from the woods.
Feltre can appropriately be known as ’the
small pearl of the Venetian region’ thanks to all its monuments. These
include the Museum and History Library, the ”Carlo Rizzarda”
- Gallery of Modern Art -, numerous churches and the theatre designed by
Andrea Palladio.
One can also experience picturesque walking
trails and countless natural beauties. Nearby the ’National
Park of the Dolomites’, is an authentic paradise for nature lovers. |
